The Finnish Transport and Communication Agency (Traficom) was joint  winner of the Best New Series with its redesign of licences, permits and registrations across Finland.

The ambitious project, which was started in 2022, was aimed at updating 21 card designs, including the Finnish driving licence,  to upgrade security features, ensure compliance with European Union standards, and improve user-friendliness. Traficom’s vision was to modernise and secure its suite of identification documents.

Working in collaboration with CardPlus Group, a Finnish identity solution provider, Toppan Security delivered the project through a series of interactive workshops. The redesigned driving licence has become the centrepiece of the series, featuring advanced security measures such as two strategically placed transparent windows.

This new series also includes tachograph cards, aircrew identification, and various other licences, each designed to meet the highest standards of durability, security, and ease of use.
