For many decades, banknote destruction has been mainly done by shredding the material to standardized particle sizes, e.g. P5 according to DIN 66399. By cutting the banknote material, large amounts of the natural fibers are shortened and damaged – what unfortunately limits recycling options for banknote waste. This is why we had to find a solution to securely destroy banknotes whilst keeping fibers intact for repurposing. The solution, Banknote Fiber Extractor (BFE), is an innovation to the industry which fundamentally transforms the traditional banknote destruction into a much more sustainable but also safer banknote de-composition.
