Counterfeiting remains a significant challenge with many anticounterfeit solutions being easy to replicate. Fluorescent markers for example, can be easily replicated with cheap and widely available fluorescent inks. At the University of Manchester, we developed a cutting-edge solution: smart materials with a one-of-a-kind luminescent colour-change effect. When exposed to UV light, these materials display a bright, reversible colour change that happens within seconds. The effect is rapid, pleasing to the eye and visible even under ambient lighting. Our technology is both innovative and practical with seamless application to existing luminescence-based solutions. With our smart materials, we are setting a new standard in rapid authentication; delivering luminescent colour-change technology you can see in action. Practical demonstrations will be provided by Security Fibres, as well as discussing how our smart materials can be applied into their anti-counterfeit technology.
