“Since the first polycarbonate documents in the 90’s, embedded DOVIDs have been holographic patches of around 22 mm diameter, protecting a small part of the picture and personal data. Such limited area restraints DOVID manufacturers in the introduction of new technologies and was due to the technical limitations of the integration of a DOVID within a polycarbonate document.
As polycarbonate documents became more and more popular, new attacks start emerging which showed that counterfeiters have adapted to this new reality. This situation led to recent developments that offer the possibility to integrate larger size DOVIDs, protecting more personalized data. Such DOVIDs open a new era for innovations enhancing the polycarbonate document in terms of security and functionalities.
This presentation aims at explaining the benefits of the integration of large size DOVIDs into polycarbonate document and the unlimited new possibilities they bring; for example: beautification, document verification enhancement and combination with other security features.”
