Counterfeit Travel and Identity Documents in Republic of Moldova
Republic of Moldova stands at the external borders in the East of the EU from one side and Ukraine from an other side due to this geographical position illegal migrants frequently use it as a transit country into Central and Western Europe. Since February 24, 2022 Moldova has faced a new challenge huge flow of refugees from Ukraine. As the result number of detected counterfeit travel documents on the border considerably increased.

The presentation will provide an overview of the major types of counterfeits and the techniques used to reproduce the documents as well as what efforts Moldova has taken to reduce counterfeiting.
