The new Austrian passport, introduced December 1st 2023, is a synthesis of modern aesthetic design and high-security features. Its design combines artistic
elements inspired by Austria's rich history, music, rivers, waters, and flora with cutting-edge security features, allowing each citizen to carry a piece of their home country wherever they go.

The passport contains eight (8) images of the owner, providing enhanced security and verification capabilities. Two of these portrait photos are also digitally signed, ensuring their authenticity and integrity.

One of the standout features of the new Austrian ePassport is the CHECK-AT Service, developed by OeSD on behalf of the Austrian Ministry of the Interior. This innovative service allows citizens to easily verify the Secure Biometric
Barcode (developed by OeSD) and other physical security features using a free smartphone app, providing an additional layer of security, authentication and verification.
